Description
An Early Gold Plate Waltham Full-Hunter Pocket Watch c1901 The Case: Is a 10 ct gold plate case A.L.D (Aaron Lufkin Dennison) Moon trade mark watch case, made to wear 20 years? It is in a very clean condition. The front, back and inner cuvette are in a good condition, all the covers open and close, as they should. The hinges are tight, when you depress the crown the front springs open to 90deg. There some age marks to the case, light surface scratches, as you can see from the close photographs; the case is in pristine condition. The case measures: 50mm across, 14mm in depth, with the movement being 42mm. The Dial: Is white enamel and in good clean condition. The time is depicted by black Roman numerals with the makers name “Waltham” at the mid 12 o’clock position. The minute, hour and subsidiary hands are blued steel. The crystal is a replacement acrylic but in good condition. The Movement: Is in excellent condition, it is a 7 jewelled lever movement with a cut bimetallic balance wheel. The balance staff end jewel is gold set, with a Breguet blued steel overcoil hairspring. The movement is running strong with a crisp ping to the balance and keeping very good time. Please be aware and take into account when bidding that antique watches are old! So they are not as reliable as quarts or modern day watches. The movement number is 10325109, denoting the date at 1901. The watch is wound by the crown and set by the crown. Faults: There are some small age marks and light scratches on or around the case. There is a faint hairline crack starting on the dial at the 12 o’clock position, the camera has missed this but it is there. The watch is old, which means there will be a few worn parts. But as you can see from the photographs, the watch is pretty good order for its 107 years of age! Important Returns policy: The watch will be inspected just before packaging. The watch will be packaged correctly and normally despatched the following day by “Royal Mail Next Day TM” (smaller items with lower value “Recorded Delivery”)I will forward the tracking number to you once posted, so you can track its progress and I will have proof of delivery. I provide a graphic faults list and 12 extremely close photographs; I will email as many further pictures as you require. In the unlikely event that the item turns out to "differ completely from my listing” I will endeavour to rectify the problem. If the problem can not be rectified then a refund wil be given, less postage. So you can bid with confidence knowing your money is safe. I do not accept “3rd party watch maker’s repairs or invoices. This policy is harsh but unfortunately the few spoil it for the many! Please ask as many questions as you like during the auction and I will give you an honest answer. So with above stated, you can form your own opinions of the item, which will help you reach your decision. Many thanks for looking.
