Britten, in his book: “Old Clocks and Watches and Their makers”, lists a “Grosser, Joh. Jacob, Augsburg, about 1750, went Furth 1768, died 1829”. The watch has a 43/1mm dial plate and a 34.9mm movement plate. This is a Verge fusee quarter repeater. We see a good barrel and mainspring, a good Fusee wheel and a good chain attached to the barrel and the Fusee wheel. We see the quarter hour strike racks and both hammers. The hour wheel, the dial and hands are missing. The balance has an elliptical, pierced balance bridge with a 3 arm balance and an under slung hairspring. The balance spins freely, the hairspring is good. Please note that we are selling this for the value of the vast source of parts it contains. We cannot guarantee this movement to be complete. This is a great movement to have on hand for now and in the future. Good early complicated movements like this are very hard to find. Take the time and look at the pictures they will tell the story.
