Description
A 14 ct Gold Plate” A.W.W.Co Waltham Mass” Demi-Hunter Pocket Watch c1895.   This pocket watch is 113 years of age! The whole watch looks as though it was made this year! It is in superb condition throughout. The movement still strong and running like a train! The case hinges all still firm and tight; there is very little wear to the case and the case has managed to avoid most but not all! the bumps and knocks these beautiful watches seem to collect during their life.   The Movement:                            Is in exceptional condition, it is a 7 jewel gilt lever Waltham movement, with a bimetallic compensated balance for temperature, a Breguet overcoil blued hairspring. The movement plate screws are blued steel which set off the gilt plates beautifully. The movement has been keeping excellent time and runs well with a good healthy ping from the balance. The main spring must be reasonably strong as the watch runs well over a 24 hour period. The watch is wound by the crown and set by the crown.     The Case:                              Is in excellent condition with just the odd dent and age mark; the case is 14ct gold plate case by A.L.D (Aaron Lufkin Dennison) Sun, Moon and the Stars Trade Mark. It is made of two plates of 14ct gold and to wear 20 years, so a high quality case. The outer blue enamel chapter dial is in good condition with only a little loss of blue enamel. There are obviously the odd age mark and bump to the covers, but as you can see from the photographs, not bad at all. The hinges are tight, when you depress the crown the front cover springs open to 90deg. The front, back, and inner dust cover open and close crisply. The case measures: 52mm across, 14mm in depth, with the movement being 42mm.   The Dial:                    Is white pristine enamel is in pristine condition. The time is depicted by black Roman numerals. The minute and hour hand are blued steel. The hour hands is double spade, as it should have, it allows the time to be observed with out opening the front cover. The face glass is a true mineral glass and could be original! The outer spy glass is a replacement, but both are in excellent condition.   Important Serial Numbers:   Rear outer cover: 660 Inner cuvette: 660 Front cover: 660 Movement: 7231671 denoting the date 1895. These numbers important because they relate the watch to the photographs, what you see is what you will buy.   Faults:           I am being over critical here but you should be aware of these blemishes if you are spending your hard earned money on this watch! There are some small age marks (bruises) and wear on or around the covers, the camera has missed these marks but they are there. There is a small dent on the front cover, again the camera has not picked this up but it is there. The watch is not new so some ageing is present; there could be wear to the movement components, because of its age. These old watches are old and not as robust as when they were was first made, so wear can take effect.   Important Postage & Returns Policy   The watch will be normally despatched the next day by Royal Mail Next Day TM, smaller items with lower value Recorded Delivery.
