What they could not have known back in 1985, when they introduced the reference 3940 and 3941 perpetual calendars, was that the 3940 would remain in production for over twenty years. In my opinion, the reference 3940 is the quintessential perpetual calendar, legible, elegant and without any unnecessary embellishments. The watch for sale here is the unusual reference 3941, which was introduced alongside the 3940, but while the 3940 was produced through 2006, the 3941 was discontinued in 1990. The reference 3941 is distinguished from the much more commonplace 3940, by its factory display back (whereas the 3940s were delivered with solid casebacks). It was only available by special order to the Patek factory. Case is 18k rose gold with diameter of 36.5mm and thickness of 8.5mm. Sapphire crystals in front and the display back. Dial is silver with applied golden hour markers and dauphine hands. Movement is the automatic winding Patek Philippe Caliber 240 Q with 22kt mini rotor, 27 jewels, 275 individual parts, with power reserve of approximately 46 hours. The caliber is engraved with the Geneva Seal, attesting to its technical and aesthetic superiority. Strap is black Patek Philippe crocodile with an 18k rose gold Patek Philippe buckle. Once again, the reference 3941 is a very unusual reference number to come across. This watch is in 99% new condition and is complete with original Patek box and papers.
