Description
RARE 1880'S GATTLE 18K POCKET WATCH DIAMONDS/RUBIES/ This is as good as it gets, this is an 18kt pocket watch by the Jeweler E.M. Gattle, one of the topmost designers of his time.  His jewelry house was located at 1187 Broadway in New York.  He specialized in made to order pieces.  Someone received a top of the line pocket watch when they opened this one up.  It is 18kt gold, there are six diamonds and six rubies on the case, the face of the watch is enamel, the number are blue with gold stars between them and gold beading all around the dial.  The watch is attached to a flower shaped pin which is also 18kt, marked Gattle with four diamonds and a replacement stone which believe it or not is a rhinestone; nevertheless, it is stunning.  The movement is Swiss, it is a jewelled movement.  The watch is fully marked, some of which I don't understand.  The diamonds are old mine cut, fine quality.  The diamonds in the watch are 2-2 1/4mm, the rubies in the watch are 2-2 1/4mm.   The center diamond in the pin is 13 pts. the remaining diamonds are 1-2 points.  The movement is stamped 763920.  Mr. Gattle was a Jeweler during the 1880's and 1890's.
