Description
watchupdoc store I am currently listing a wide selection of Vintage Pocket Watches at great prices!!! Many of the pieces that I am offering are perfect for carrying and display and will make great gifts or simply treat yourself to a nice addition to your collection. Please view all my auctions for a super variety! Offered here is an outstanding, super clean, 18 size Elgin B.W. Raymond movement housed in a heavy 14K solid gold box hinge hunters case.  A variety of leaf and flower designs, vermacilli, circular engine turnings and an initialed shield centers the front cover.  A super detailed village scene ornaments the back cover.  Each cover tapers on a classic polished ring ending in a raised pie crust outer lip. The center ring or frame of the case is deeply reeded. The covers close nice and tight.  The dust cover or cuvette is plain polished and signed "From Mama To Patrick - Jan. 91". That's 1891!  The case is signed "Warranted 14K - U.S. Assay - B.W.C.Co. - 678418." The Brooklyn Watch Case Company was a large case manufacture that was well respected for their large, heavy gold cases. This case is an excellent example of their work. The case shows very little signs of wear. All of the engraving has remained completely sharp and crisp. There are NO dents or scratches on the case at all. The front cover opens very sharply when released and stops just past 90 degrees. The back and dust covers open properly. The hinges are firm and the covers snap shut tight. The bow still shows strong resistance and the large pumpkin shaped crown is sharp. Overall, the watch measures 56mm (2 3/16") wide X 85mm (3 1/4") from the top of the bow to the base of the case X 18mm (3/4") thick. Total weight of the piece is a super heavy 5.6 ounces (159 grams).  The front cover opens sharply when released revealing a beautiful double sunk, white porcelain dial which is marked with black Roman hour chapters. Blue, fluer-de-lis pointers center the dial and are bright and clean. The dial is stark white and clean. I can find one hairline in the outer dial ring that runs from the edge at 17 minutes to the first dial sink. The rest of the dial is problem free. A glass crystal protects the dial and is scratch free.  The 18 size, 15 Jewel, B.W. Raymond grade 27, nickel, full plate, stem wind and lever set movement is clean and bright.  The movement is signed "B.W. Rayond - Elgin, Ill. - Adjusted - Safety Pinion". The serial number 3788885 dates this piece back to about 1889. The movement is very clean and bright, showing only minor, typical service marks and NO rust or spotting at all. It exhibits a wonderful, brilliant damaskeen design and screw down gold jewel settings. I have just had this watch completely and professionally disassembled, cleaned, oiled, polished, timed and regulated. It winds and sets smooth and is running strong while keeping excellent time.Very Clean Throughout! It Is Becoming Increasingly Difficult To Find These Large Gold Box Hinge Hunters In This Condition! This Is A Wonderful Piece! This is a very nice, strong running watch that is ready to put to use or add to your collection.
