He started his collection in the 1980's. Watches that were acquired were first put into first  class condition then the collector wound them often and kept them maintained. Each watch is described and rated for the buyer's  convenience. I am not a watch expert, but if you have any questions not covered in his description, I will  turn to the experts for answers. This entry is a beautiful gold-filled dress watch, circa 1920 ,described by seller, with added comments in parenthesis, as: "This 7 jewel Elgin pocket watch is size 18, open face, stem set, in pretty gold filled case with engraving on the back. (fine cross-hatching covers back with an engraved decorated place with initials - can not make out initials) The serial # for the movement is 236632887, circa 1920, grade 291. The porcelain dial has black Arabic numerals. The watch is running and in good condition." DOCUMENTATION: Inside of back is "Fahys, Montauk, Guaranteed 20 years, and about eight (8) etched markings from past service; On the works reads "Elgin Nat'l Watch Co., USA, 23563287"; Watch weighs 2.84 oz. CONDITION: Two hairline cracks on dial at 1 & 3 o'clock; a few small dents on back; small discoloration of edge of back, appropriate for age. NOTE:  All watches benefit from a good professional cleaning.
