Description
A good Victorian Gentleman's silver-cased hallmarked fusée pocket watch complete with key. The watch has been overhauled and is working well. The watch measures 5½ cm ( 2¼ inches) across. The case, hinges and glass are all in very good condition. The white-enamelled face is clear and in excellent condition. The back of the case has an engine-turned design with a central cartouche. The inside of the case is hallmarked for London in 1872, with large clear hallmarks. It is stamped NW. These marks are repeated on the inner case and on top where the suspension ring is fitted. The inside of the case is engraved with the following dedication: "Presented to Bro F Borthwick of No 666 by the U.F. Gardeners & Friends of Hetton for his good and faithful service as Secretary. May 9th 1874" The movement is inscribed Reid & Sons, Newcastle on Tyne All-in-all, an attractive and usable watch. Please see the photos for further details.
