Description
Bulova Swiss Split Second Stop Watch with 21J Valjoux 57 Movement This is a high-grade split second stop watch from the 60's or early '70's. It's engraved Cornell College 1142 on the back, and it was probably retired when digital watches came along. It has a calibration sticker from January '75 and that's probably the last time it was cleaned and adjusted. The split second hand is lagging, indicating that it needs cleaning, but all functions work. The right button starts and stops the sweep second hand, the left button starts the split second hand and returns it to the sweep hand, and the crown returns everything to zero and winds the watch. This watch is triple signed - dial, movement and case by Bulova (19 EA) however it uses a Valjoux 57 movement. Bulova has tweeked this movement, making it a high-beat 21 Jewel work of art. Compare to the Heuer split second stop watch that uses the same movement but at a much lower level of watchmaking art. This one is in nice condition, and will be a great watch when cleaned. The face is in excellent condition and has a 30 second dial with a 30 minute accumulator dial with 5 minute sub intervals up to 60 minutes. It's about 2-1/4" in diameter, and because of its size a perfect practice watch for watchmakers interested in working on complicated watches. Thanks for bidding,  -Reid
