Description
Absolutely amazing antique Vulcain solid 18K gold and green enamel guilloche pearl and diamond lady's ultra-miniature pendant watch in near mint, 100% original condition. Purchased from the estate of the original owner's family, this magnificent piece has spent its life in safe deposit boxes around the world, rarely been worn, and taken out to be admired on rare occasion. The watch is about the size of a nickel. Solid 18K gold case in absolutely mint condition. The case back, bezel, and inner dust cover are all hinged and each hinge is as tight as new showing substantial resistance when opened or closed. Even the gold, hallmarked bow is tight as well. The case back is beautifully guilloched, radiating from the center of the case in a sunburst pattern. The green enamel is perfect with only microscopic evidence of handling. The center of the case back is set with one exquisite Old Mine Cut diamond weighing approximately .40 carats with a clarity and color grade of SI/HI. The diamond is surrounded by hand painted gold enamel embelishment. The entire case back, as well as the bezel, are each set with thirty natural seed pearls. The pearls appear to be all original and are nicely matched. The dial is phenomenal. Gold dial guilloched with green enamel and yellow gold enamel Arabic numerals. The dial radiates in a sunrise pattern from 6:00 upwards. Original rose gold Louis XIV hands. Open the case back to reveal the original Vulcain hallmarks as well as 18K gold hallmarks and Swiss assay marks. The same marks are present on the inside of the dust cover as well. The number 72 indicates that this may have been made for the Russian market with "72" being the Russian 18K purity mark. The high grade, nicely jeweled movement is in fine running condition and keeping time, although it has not been used in decades. Absence of any watchmakers notes in the case back indicate that it may never have even been serviced. This watch is an absolute treasure. It is captivating in its quality, craftsmanship, color, condition, and size. Perhaps one of the most beautiful objects you are likely to ever see. Hidden away for most of a century and now available to its next custodian. Measures 25mm diameter.
