Description
You are bidding on the only American made repeater ever made. This is not only a very rare pocket watch, it is an investment. It is an extra-fine to near mint 14k solid gold, size 16s. Waltham 17-jewel, 5-minute repeater in its “original” box hinge case. It has been hidden away in a private collection for decades. This watch is referenced with “3” stars on page 124 of Shugart’s 2008 Price Guide. The reference is with a hunt case while this watch is housed in its original 14k “box hinge” case. This watch is one of only 800 made in a short run between 9/1/1888 and 7/31/1889 and who knows how many survive today let alone in this condition. The entire watch weighs in at 6.0 ounces. There are absolutely no excuses that come with this magnificent watch. The back opens on a very good hinge to several degrees "shy" of 90 and the front opens on a good hinge to just 90 degrees. It runs very well and keeps time. What you see is exactly what you will receive if you win this auction. It is being offered as described and as pictured. Please study the pictures very carefully before bidding and ask questions if you are unsure of anything. (J) I’ll let the pictures tell the rest of the story. As additional visual descriptions, they take precedence over any and all of the written descriptions. They are very clear and should leave no doubt as to the condition of this watch.
